CHAPTER ELEVEN

Turning a Corner

The best thing about the Playboy job was that I could work weekends when Mady was with her grandparents, meaning I could be at home all week, which was exactly what I wanted. I wanted to be there to give her breakfast and take her to school. And I wanted to be there to pick her up from school, give her tea and put her to bed. I didn’t want to be away.

So the job was perfect – I could take her to school on a Friday morning, go straight to Stansted and fly to whichever city in France we were going to. All my flights and travel were paid for. I would do two PAs on Friday and Saturday nights, which would make me €500, and then fly home on the Sunday.

The PAs involved wearing my Playboy bunny outfit, mingling in the clubs and then posing for photos with the clubbers. At the end of the night, we would stand on stage and throw free stuff, like Playboy key rings, into the crowd. I was always introduced as an official Playboy bunny from London and the French people treated me like I was famous!

On my first day, the bosses had told me that I would meet up with the other Playboy bunny at Stansted and we would fly over together. Her name was Ann French and she was originally from Newcastle but lived in Luton. We hit it off immediately.

Ann was really lovely and well spoken, and came from a nice well-to-do family but, despite our different backgrounds, we became good friends. She was really pretty – she looked like the movie star Megan Fox. We had a lot in common because we were both trying to make a living from modelling. My life soon fell into a regular pattern. I was going to France every weekend and earning decent money. Things were looking up, but Mr Starship was on my mind all the time – I still felt that he was The One – and I wanted to show him that I had made a success of my life.

It was around this time in early 2010 that I first heard about the new reality TV show based in Essex that was being planned and I had my first meeting with the producer.

By this time, I was being offered even more work with Playboy. That May, I went to Cannes for the Film Festival, which was absolutely amazing. Dressed as a white bunny, I went to all the best parties. I was rubbing shoulders with proper A-listers. One night, I was in a club and Paris Hilton and her sister Nicky were standing right next to me! After Cannes, we went on to St Tropez, which was unlike anything I had ever seen before – there was just so much glamour around.

Working for Playboy made me even more conscious of the way I looked. I was hanging around with glamour models and I got sucked into their way of thinking that everything should be exaggerated, from your boobs to your lips.
